After a few years of “separation” with winter Lapland, I got this time a chance to join my parents trip to Saariselkä, a ski resort in the northern Finland quite familiar to us. Although the trees were not covered with loads of snow anymore and the sun barely shone this time, experiencing tranquility of the Lapland was as great as ever. I skiied cross-country three days and enjoyed every kilometer. We even saw the magical Aurora Borealis every night:

If you want to visit Saariselkä, then flying from Helsinki to Ivalo is quite good option (Norwegian, Finnair). 90 minute flight or the whole day in a car/train are pretty much the options.
